Getting Started on Digital Boost as a Volunteer

How do I create an account as a volunteer?

To create an account as a volunteer is simple. Go to digitalboost.org.uk and click the “Sign up” button. Next fill in all your details. We recommend signing up with LinkedIn for a faster signup process. As a last step, agree to Digital Boosts’ Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy to create an account.

Do I get paid as a mentor?

Digital experts volunteer as mentors on a pro bono basis. You do not get paid as a mentor from Digital Boost nor from the organisations you mentor. It is prohibited to inquire about pay from the organisations you mentor. If a volunteer is deemed not to adhere to the agreed terms, they will be removed as a Digital Boost volunteer. Please read our “Volunteers Guide for 1-to-1 Mentoring Calls” and our “Volunteers Guide for Boost Workshops” for further information on our policies.

How do I update my profile?

Simply log in to your account through volunteer.digitalboost.org.uk/login, and you can update your profile and settings. You can also sync your profile with your LinkedIn profile for quick setup, and keep your profile up-to-date.

1-to-1 Mentoring Calls

What is a 1-to-1 mentoring call?

With 1-to-1 Mentoring Calls you can speak with a mentee from an organisation 1-to-1 on a learning subject the organisation needs help with. As a mentor you will provide the organisation with practical help and advice to help them tackle their organisational problem. 1-to-1 Mentoring Calls are 60 minutes long, free and unlimited for organisations.

How do 1-to-1 mentoring calls work?

Organisations book a 1-to-1 Mentoring Call by selecting the learning subjects they need help and the mentors they would like to have a call with on the selected learning subjects. Organisations add a description of what they need help with, their previous technical experience and add 3 time slots when they would be available for a 60min call. Once the organisation has submitted their call request, you as the selected mentor will receive an email with their call request details and 3 time options. You simply pick one of the 3 times that works for you to confirm your call with the organisation. Both you and the organisation will receive a confirmation email with the details of the call in it.

How do I know my 1-to-1 Mentoring Call has been confirmed?

Both you and your mentee will receive a confirmation email with the details of the confirmed call in it including a “Join The Call” button.

How do I join a 1-to-1 Mentoring Call?

Simply press the “Join The Call” button at the scheduled time in the call confirmation and reminder emails we send you. You will be directed to a video conferencing platform to have your call.

Boost Workshops/Seminars

What are Boost Workshops?

Boost Workshops are weekly interactive webinars for organisations on a relevant digital skill led by one of our digital experts to help our organisations achieve their learning goals and solve their organisational problems. The webinars are limited in the number of organisations who can attend.

How do I host a Boost Workshop?

If you would like to host a Boost Workshop, please email contact@digitalboost.org.uk. Workshops are 60min long starting with a 30min presentation by the digital expert and followed by 30min Q&A with the audience. In the email please include the subject topic you would like to present on and why you think this would be valuable to our organisations. Further include a presentation deck that you would like to present. The deck should be long enough for a 30 min verbal presentation. Once Digital Boost confirms that the subject is well suited for our audience, we will go ahead and plan the date and time for the Boost Workshop with you via email.

Can I join a Boost Workshop as a volunteer?

Boost Workshops are a learning service to help our organisations solve their organisational problems. Unless you are hosting the Boost Workshop you can unfortunately not attend as a volunteer.
